Rooms and Rates

What types of rooms do you offer?

We have Private Queen Bed, Double bed and Single Bed rooms all with shared bathrooms. As well as a range of shared rooms; Twin Shared rooms (mixed and female), Triple Shared rooms (mixed and female), and Female-only six-bed dorm which has its own ensuite. Do you have discounted rates if I stay longer?

Yes! We have weekly rates for people staying more than a week but less than 28 days and for those that want to make Life in Byron more of a home we have “housemate pricing” which is for stays greater than 28 days. For more information go to our long-term stays page or get in touch.

There are 3 of us travelling together, can we all be in the same room?

We will always try to accommodate this for you however in peak times this would depend on availability of beds in these shared rooms.

Is breakfast included?

No, breakfast is not included, but we offer a fully equipped shared kitchen. If you are not the cooking type, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants within walking distance.

Can I check-in before 2pm?

Check-in time is 2pm. This gives us time to clean and prepare your room. If your room is ready earlier, we will put your check-in envelope on the stand and you are welcome to check in then! If not, no problem — you can leave your bags in the common room, relax here, or go explore Byron Bay.

Do you have parking on-site?

Yes however it is limited and comes on a first come basis. There is street parking available around the hostel but just make sure you look at the signs.

Do the rooms have air conditioning?

No, but all rooms have ceiling fans.

Are bed linens and towels included?

Linen is provided in all our rooms. Towels are only provided in our private rooms for stays less than 7 days.

What amenities do you offer?

Fully equipped kitchen, fire pit area, huge yard, limited off-street parking, unlimited Wi-Fi, shared gender-separated bathrooms, card-operated laundry facilities, and a cozy common room. There is a ping-pong table, pool table and volleyball court, ideal for people that want to make new friendships.

Can I store my luggage before check-in or after check-out?

While we don’t have a separate luggage storage room, you’re more than welcome to leave your bags in the common room before check-in or after check-out while you grab a coffee, chill out or explore the area.

Are pets allowed?

No, unfortunately no fur babies allowed.

Long-term Stays

How long can I stay?

As long as you want! Many of our guests live, work and study in Byron Bay for weeks or months. If you love being part of a community, Life in Byron is a great spot to live the Byron life.

We offer a “housemate deal” for stays longer than 28 days. You can book directly online (the discounted rates are applied automatically) or get in touch with us to discuss further.

Can I see the rooms before booking?

Yes — you can check out all our room types and photos online here, or contact us to arrange a viewing if you’re already in Byron.

What type of travellers usually stay long-term?

We welcome a mix of working holiday makers, students, Aussie travellers, and digital nomads. It’s always a friendly, international, and community vibe.

Is there a discount if I stay longer?

Yes, there is! If you’re staying for more than 28 days, you’ll get access to our special Housemates rate — it’s a discounted weekly price just for longer stays.

Do I need to pay upfront for a long-term stay?

Nope, just a deposit! To lock in the Housemates rate, you’ll only need to pay a deposit equal to two weeks of your stay within 24 hours of your booking to confirm your spot. This deposit is held until you leave, once you arrive at Life in Byron you will pay for your accommodation fortnightly in advance. We’ll send all the details once you book, or feel free to reach out with any questions!

What if I need to cancel?

No problem. If your plans change before you arrive, no stress — just give us 14 days’ notice and we’ll refund your deposit in full.

If I need to leave early will I get my deposit back?

We get it — plans can change. If you’ve already arrived and need to leave earlier than expected, just give us 14 days’ notice and we’ll refund your deposit.

How can I book a long-term rental at Life in Byron?

You can book directly through our website to secure your long-term stay.

Select your dates, then choose “Bank Transfer” as the payment method (if you choose credit card, the booking system will require you to pay the full amount upfront).

Once you confirm your reservation, we’ll email you the payment details and deposit amount. We require a deposit equal to 2 weeks of your accommodation to secure your bed – due within 24 hours of booking. You can pay this deposit via bank transfer, or contact us if you’d prefer to pay by credit card.

Can I get a discount if I stay for a couple of weeks?

Absolutely! We offer discounted weekly rates, so the longer you stay, the more you save compared to our standard nightly prices.

Is bed linen and towels included?

Linen is provided in all our rooms however we do not provide towels for long-term stays.

Bookings and Payment

How can I book my stay?

The most direct way to book and pay for your stay is via our website.

How long can I stay?

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept online payments via our website when the booking is made. We also accept bank transfers and cash payments.

What is your cancellation policy?

For short stays, less than 7 nights we require a minimum 48-hours notice for a full refund. However for longer stays we do request two weeks’ notice for any cancellations, postponements, or early departures.

Location and Nearby

I am a Lexis English language student, how far away is the school?

Lexis English language school is just upstairs! So you don’t have to stroll far to begin your lessons.

How close are you to the beach?

We are a short 12-minute stroll through town to the sea, a 5-minute bike ride or a 2-minute drive! There are plenty of beaches in Byron to choose from: Main Beach, Belongil Beach, The Pass Point, Wategos Beach, Tallow Beach and Clarkes Beach.

Are there restaurants and shops nearby?

Our location is ideal, walking distance to the main shops, supermarkets, movie theatre, restaurants and markets.

What are some attractions close by?

Byron Bay offers heaps of things to do – stunning beaches, national parks, and a laid-back atmosphere.

Cape Byron Lighthouse: Easternmost point of mainland Australia with incredible views and a scenic Lighthouse Walk.

Beaches: Main Beach, Wategos, Belongil, and Tallow Beach—perfect for swimming, surfing or relaxing.

Arakwal National Park: Coastal rainforest with cultural sites, hiking, and whale spotting.

The Pass: Surfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, or simply chilling with amazing views.

Julian Rocks Marine Reserve: Snorkelling, diving, whale-watching with vibrant marine life.

Markets: Byron Bay Farmers Market (every Thursday) and Byron Bay Community Markets (1st Sunday monthly, plus 3rd Sunday in Dec & Jan). More info here.
